Answer: Absolutely not! It is simply blended fruit with other all-natural and organic ingredients topped with organic hemp granola and honey. So while it will taste as sinful and decadent as a sugary, fattening yogurt, sorbet, or ice cream, it is actually extremely healthy. It is a great meal alternative due to its amazing health benefits as well as a great dessert substitute because of how wonderful it tastes, but it is definitely not yogurt or ice cream.
Answer: There is in depth information on Smabazon’s website in the “Partners” section of our site, however, Acai is simply a palm berry from the Brazilian Amazon which is considered a “super food”. It has 3-6 times the antioxidants as blueberries and 10-30 that of red wine. It is currently being studied and has proved to have weight-loss and anti-aging properties. It is one of the purest, healthiest sources of natural energy and literally one of the best things you can put into your body.
Answer: This answer may vary across retailers, but $5.49 is the standard price point.
Answer: The product must remain frozen until ready to eat. You can either let it thaw naturally at room temperature for about 1.5-2 hours or toss it in the microwave for 25 seconds, take it out and break it up, and toss it in for another 25 seconds. It is also possible to let it thaw in the refrigerator over night. All of these methods should produce a thick, smooth consistency. The thawing instructions are also printed on the inside tab.
Answer: We recommend that the bowls be eaten as one serving as a sort of meal alternative, however, it is possible to thaw and refreeze the bowls if more servings are desired. We do warn that there are always certain health risks associated with thawing and refreezing anything in terms of bacterial hazard, but the consistency of the product will hold up nonetheless.
Answer: While the bowls contain a number of certified organic ingredients, they are not fully organic. This is because in order to be considered organic, the product as a whole must not only contain all organic ingredients, but each and every tool, utensil, facility, etc. used in the process must be certified organic. We are, however, all-natural and organic wherever possible.
Answer: While most of the ingredients in the bowls are kosher, we cannot legally claim it as so because, like the organic circumstances, our facility and manufacturing tools are not technically considered kosher.
Answer: The sugar content varies across bowls (Beach-54g, Au Lait-36g, Power-37g, Yoga-46g) depending on the basic content. It is important to note that while we do not add any sweeteners, fruit in general does have a high sugar content. This however, is all-natural fructose sugar as opposed to artificial sucrose types. Fruit does not come with a nutrition label, but if it did, it would all show high levels of all-natural sugar. Also note (for diabetics) that while every individual is different, we have many diabetic customers who do just fine with the all-natural sugar contained in the bowls. QUICK COMPARISON: -6oz nonfat yogurt: 25-30 g sugar -8oz organic apple juice: 28-30 g sugar -16oz tea drinks (tazo, sweet leaf): 40 g sugar -16oz vitamin water: 32.5 g sugar -16oz pomegranate juice: 32 g sugar -16oz superfood drink: 28 g sugar
Answer: While the Power Bowl is definitely NOT gluten-free overall, the only thing that makes the others non-gluten-free is the granola. The granola does come separately packed in the container, so you do have the option of making it gluten-free by simply eating it without the granola or by adding a different topping (we recommend sliced almonds). We do also serve a number of gluten-free products in our stores, and therefore, will be coming out with a gluten-free wholesale bowl very soon.
Answer: Our Yoga Bowl is 100% vegan. The Power Bowls is definitely NOT vegan because it contains a small amount of dairy as well as honey. The only thing that makes the two Acai bowls not vegan is the honey. We can also make any of your favorite Rush treats completely vegan in our Boulder stores upon request.
Answer: The Beach Bowl does not contain any soy other than the extremely trace amounts of organic soybean oil found in the organic hemp granola. Again, the granola does come separately packed for this specific reason. We can also make anything completely soy-free in our Boulder stores upon request.
Answer: The only bowl that contains any dairy is the Power Bowl, which contains a small amount of nonfat frozen yogurt and whey protein. Again, we can make anything completely non-dairy in our Boulder stores.
Answer: While the granola itself does not contain any nuts, it is processed in a factory that also processes different types of nuts.
Answer: Aside from in our stores, you can find our bowls in the freezer section at Whole Foods in Boulder as well as Ideal Market. We will also be in a number of other natural markets for your convenience very soon.
